Hye Young Bang began studying the violin intensively at the age of seven in Southern California under Minjung Park and Yuki Mori. She is a three-time first prize winner of California’s S.Y.M.F competition, Grand Prize winner and named “The Most Promising Violinist” of the Pasadena’s Branch Competition, and second prize winner at the NY Korea Times Competition.
At the age of eleven she made her debut with the South Bay Youth Orchestra. Her performance was praised by the local newspaper in Torrance, California. Her solo engagements also were with the El Camino Community Orchestra, Student Conductor’s Orchestra in Aspen, Tenafly High School Orchestra, and Brazos Chamber Orchestra in Texas. Her recital engagements were at Aspen Music Festival, Carnegie Weil Recital Hall, Juilliard Paul Recital Hall, Manhattan School of Music Greenfield Hall, SWBTS Cowden Hall, and others.
Ms. Bang took part in the Vivaldi Youth Ensemble under Hyo Kang from 2002 to 2004. She joined the New Jersey North Regional Orchestra from 2000 to 2003 and the New Jersey All-State Orchestra from 2001 to 2003. She served as a concertmaster and section leader for Good Neighbor Ensemble, Tenafly High School Orchestra, Orchestras at Manhattan School of Music, and SWBTS Orchestra. She has freelanced for recording jazz and pop artists, also performing at the MTV’s Video Music Awards.
Ms. Bang’s students were accepted into the NJ Regional Orchestra, Texas Regional Orchestra, Texas All-State Orchestra, and Carnegie Hall Royal Conservatory Achievement Program. Her students are also competition winners in the state of NI/NY and Texas.
Ms. Bang attended the Colburn School of Music studying under Michelle Kim and she has received tutelage at Juilliard Prep under Won-Bin Yim and Masao Kawasaki. She received a BM at Manhattan School of Music under Yoko Takebe and Michael Gilbert. She completed her Master of Music in Music Education from Southwestern Baptist Thelogical Seminary studying under Kurt Sprenger.
Ms. Bang began teaching from the age of 16. Her goal is to lead her students to enjoy performing the violin and give joy to others through their craft.
